zierota:

AlexGoesPlaces recently told me that gentlemen (those by the old etiquette) still exist. They’re a rare species and one of their most loved features is being polite, caring, the fact that they open doors for you and they put their coat on you when it’s cold.
It sounds like a cancelled TV show…

Dear Zierota,

I understand you are skeptical, as I was myself at the sight of such special individuals. I met one of these specimens two days ago. He opened doors, helped me put on my coat, offered a seat, etc. I couldn’t help but stare at him like a unicorn. I can’t really complain as I have previously been in relationships with gentlemen before. I suppose I have been lucky.

The other night a young woman was telling me that I was silly for appreciating men who display that kind of behavior. She told me it was boring, as she stroked her boyfriend’s round belly. Oddly enough, she has thrown jealousy fits over him and I. I couldn’t help but think “Hey, if you were dating a gentleman, you would have no reason to act that way.”

They are out there. You don’t look for them and they find you.

Sincerely,

Alex
